Cheri

I teach traditional Hatha Yoga with a focus on strength, balance & flexibility; your individual needs are always a priority. Don’t be intimidated when you see slim women in very strange (impossible looking) poses in the media – this is not the yoga we aim for.  My approach is to assess each unique body and its capabilities and then help the student adapt (if necessary) the poses.

I found Yoga through pain. In 1996 I suffered from a stress induced frozen shoulder, and looking back I can’t believe how lucky I was that my physician suggested Yoga as a therapy. Yoga changed my life back then, and now I use it to help change the lives of others. Since becoming a Yoga teacher (I have an E-RYT certification with Yoga Alliance), I have taught over 1,000 hours and counting.

Yoga4You means exactly that – Yoga for YOU.

I teach a wide range of age groups (from teens to 90+ year olds).  I have discovered my passion for teaching Yoga to those over age 60 and addressing the unique needs of the Senior population. Age is never a restriction in my classes. It is gratifying to help participants in the older age group with their mobility, hip & knee replacements, sciatica, diabetes, scoliosis and more. Student’s safety and a pain free class are my top priority, while enabling everyone to reach their unique potential.

In order to stay up-to-date, I regularly attend professional training classes and workshops where Yoga is used to help those with medical conditions such as cancer, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis, stroke recovery, parkinson’s, etc., such as the Yoga of Awareness for Cancer offered at the Duke Integrative Medicine facility in Durham, North Carolina.
